Yin Yoga

The foundations of Yin yoga are rooted in the Daoist traditions of ancient China which is based upon the philosophy of living in harmony with the way of nature. Yin yoga is a combination of Hatha yoga and several disciplines from the Daoist tradition including Qigong. Yin yoga is slower paced with postures held for long periods. This gives rise to a meditative quality with an emphasis on inwardness and expanding awareness of the body’s process and sensations. The aim is to to become more present during practice, as you aim to release muscular effort by relaxing and surrendering into the pull of gravity.
